**CORONAVIRUS UPDATE**

23rd June 2020

Hi Everyone. As you may have seen many businesses have been given the go ahead to reopen on 4th July such as Bars, Hotels, and Hairdressing. Unfortunately massage therapy is still not included on that list so we remained closed for now. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I'd check in with you all and keep you up to date with our current situation.
As you have no doubt seen, various sections of society are slowly starting to open such as outdoor spaces, dental practices, and non essential shopping on the high street. Unfortunately this still does not extend to the services we offer here at Knightwood Massage due to the proximity of our treatments, and for now we remain closed.
Please rest assured that as soon as we can we will open our doors, but until the go ahead has been issued along with guideless for safe operating procedures and assurances from our governing body/insurance we cannot open.
This is for your safety as well as ours. Thank you for your continued understanding and support in these strange times and hopefully we'll be here to ease your aches and pains away in the near future!

It is with a heavy heart and with immediate effect we are no longer taking bookings or performing massage in line with advice from the government and the Federation of Holistic Therapists. Thank you for your support in these trying times, stay safe out there and please follow advice to ensure we all pull through this. We will return as soon as this has passed, please keep checking on here for updates and follow my  facebook page.

POST NATAL MASSAGE

What is Post Natal Massage?

Although many women have pregnancy massages, the time after she has had her baby is just as vital in order to support her new born. Your body goes through huge changes during and after the birth and it can take more than a year to get back to ‘normal’. It is easy to forget to look after yourself, in the endless hours of feeding, changing and looking after the new addition to the family. The beauty of having this treatment in your own home is you can have your baby with you, even breast feeding if need be. Alternatively you could arrange to have a babysitter and enjoy some me time to help you unwind. The break will give you the strength to meet the many needs of your baby and home. More importantly though, you deserve to give a little back to yourself after those nine months of pregnancy and hours of labour and from the sleep deprived nights.

Benefits of Post Natal Massage

- Helps promote post natal recovery from child birth, supports pelvic floor and abdominal toning, eases muscle tension, particularly in the upper back which maybe sore due to breastfeeding or holding the newborn in awkward positions
- Massage is an excellent stress buster and mood elevator encouraging the body to release endorphins - the natural pain killers and feel good hormones which may provide support for postnatal depression.
- Promotes relaxation which can help with breast feeding, sleep and easing fatigue
- Gentle breast massage will help open blocked ducts, loosen clumps or hardened areas, and reduce the risk of mastitis.
- Increase the flow of blood and oxygen to your muscles, getting rid of any toxins. Improve well-being and immunity by stimulating lymph flow, and energy flow.
-Speeds up recovery from a caesarean section gentle massage to the area will increase blood supply and help with internal healing, scar massage can help prevent your tissues from sticking together, which is common after a surgery.

What can you expect?

The post natal massage is a full body massage tailored to your individual needs to help you adjust to being a mother. The massage usually starts with your feet using a mixture of shiatsu pressure points and massage therapy techniques. The treatment moves up the body until we finish off with a head massage.

Who can have a treatment?

If you've had a caesarean, wait until your scar is healed before you start getting massages. This should take about a week or two, but let your doctor confirm you are ready for massages before you start.
